P4Y – Step 17 – The Invisible Age: When Time Plays Hide and Seek with Talent

There are moments when you look in the mirror and don’t quite know where you fit. You’re not young enough to seem “promising,” nor old enough to be considered “a legend.” And yet, you’ve weathered storms, built and rebuilt, learned to read silence. But the world, sometimes, seems to want something else: naïve enthusiasm or titanic experience. The in-between — the real, the grounded — often has no place.
When you arrive in a foreign country, you know you can’t simply continue where you left off. You don’t yet know the internal dynamics, the unwritten rules, the relationships that matter. So you look a few steps lower, aware that starting over — at least partially — is part of the game, even if it hurts.
And yet, even when applying for simpler roles, something strange happens: your profile comes off as “too much.” Too much experience, too much depth, too many past responsibilities. And you start asking yourself: too much for what? Why does it scare people? Are they afraid I won’t adapt? That I’ll “expect too much”? Or worse, that I’ll be hard to manage?
It’s as if my past casts a shadow over the simplicity of my present, making me unreachable in the very places where I’m trying to be helpful, available, and concrete.
My résumé becomes a living paradox: too rich for most of the roles I see, too foreign for the ones I could truly excel in. Because people only look at how long I’ve been here, not at what I’ve done before — or how I did it.
And so a strange limbo forms. You ask yourself whether it’s worth “turning down the volume,” trimming your experience, simplifying the truth. But trimming experience means cutting off parts of yourself. Shrinking just to seem more palatable. Easier. Or instead, there’s the path of staying true to who you are — to the effort it took to get here, to the wounds you’ve earned and healed. That path is often a slow, uncomfortable climb. One with no immediate applause.
And then you start asking yourself: why did I have to start over? Why do I find myself retracing a path I had already completed? If I had already reached the top of the mountain, why am I back at its base? And that’s when thoughts and memories rise to the surface. Along with the anger. At who — and what — made it happen. When that who and that what still deny it, still don’t understand it. But what is there to understand? That who and what simply continued on their path as if nothing happened. While I’m starting over. Old, to others. Solid, to myself. Trying to rebuild what others — obsessively and brilliantly — dismantled. I’m a man of certainties. And among them, one has always lit the path for all the others: if there’s a problem, I’ll face it. I’ll find a way to solve it. I’ll get where I want to go. It may take time — but I’ll get there. And then the who and the what will have to reckon with the present, with the past, and with the mistake of never having understood.
And it’s right there that you ask yourself: Should I shrink myself to fit through just any door, or wait for the right one to open — even if it takes time?
I don’t have all the answers yet. But one thing I do know: I’m neither too old nor too qualified. I’m simply full of stories — and ready to write more.
So. Just saying. CJJ

Eppure hai attraversato tempeste, costruito e ricostruito, imparato a far parlare i silenzi.
E poi ti domandi perché hai dovuto ricominciare. E allora i pensieri e i ricordi tornano a galla. Mentre io riparto.
My name is Francesco Boschi, originally from Italy and currently based in the United States. For over twenty years, I’ve worked as a manager and consultant across diverse sectors — from education and cultural institutions to the food industry — developing skills in operational management, strategic consulting, and complex problem-solving. In recent years, I’ve combined this experience with a strong passion for software development, creating custom tools designed to simplify workflows and meet real business needs.
Relocating to the U.S. marks the beginning of a new chapter: a personal and professional decision driven by the desire to be close to my son and to embrace new challenges in a different environment. Today, my goal is to turn my experience into meaningful solutions, blending strategic vision with technical expertise to help people and organizations work more effectively.
I enjoy moving between different worlds, adapting tools and approaches to people and contexts. I bring leadership, flexibility, attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a strong problem-solving mindset — along with a deep curiosity to learn and grow. Above all, I believe in sharing: I’m always eager to offer my experience to support the growth of others.
A human relationship is a living organism: it grows, changes, surprises. Sometimes it explodes and reveals truths we could no longer hold; other times it fades and leaves a space that becomes understanding. But every relationship, whatever its trajectory, keeps living within us, shaping who we become.
A satirical reflection on legacy and perception. When structure meets habit, clarity becomes disruption — but only in hindsight. This is the story of someone who left, and only then was named the origin of all evil.

Some choices leave a permanent mark, especially when — perhaps intentionally — true men of substance are cast aside. At times, the truth is ignored; at others, it’s easier to pretend not to see it. But mistakes linger, and they always demand a price. Those who truly understand the worth of people know that men like Francesco are never let go — they are kept close, anywhere, no questions asked. It’s truly a big mistake. He believes there are people paid to spot talent — and you are one of them. If those who had you didn’t recognize it, even though you clearly were, it means they never understood what they had in their hands. I don’t know your professional history, but your human story is extraordinary — otherwise, no one would write such things to you. Too bad for them
