Some people are born knowing they have something to rely on, while others grow up afraid of never having enough. Two different ways of experiencing life, of seeing the world, of facing tomorrow. For some, security is a natural part of life. For others, it is something that must be earned, day after day, with a determination that only necessity can teach.
Those who have truly known the fear of the present understand what it means to long for something they have never had. It is not envy. It is not greed. It is a hunger that begins deep inside, long before there are words to explain it. A feeling that grows, takes root, and eventually becomes part of who we are.
And so you learn to fight.
You learn to grit your teeth, to lower your head when necessary, to endure, to wait. You do not mistake pride for the weakness of those who refuse to bend. You know that some battles are won by holding your ground, others by moving forward, and still others by accepting a step backward. But deep inside, you never retreat.
You are not looking for applause. You are not seeking glory. You want to succeed. You want to prove, perhaps above all to yourself, that you can reach places you once would not even have dared to imagine.
And you do.
Once, then again. You achieve what once seemed impossible, overcome obstacles, and build one success after another. Every victory strengthens a new certainty: you can do it. Even when everything seems against you, even when no one believes in you, even when exhaustion weighs more heavily than hope.
But something never changes.
Deep inside remains that child who watched the world with unease, who felt the turmoil of everything happening around them without being able to control it. Time passes, circumstances change, but certain emotions never disappear. They remain hidden beneath every achievement, like a memory that needs no reminder.
And so you keep fighting even when fighting may no longer be necessary. You can no longer distinguish desire from need. Every goal you reach quickly loses its meaning because another one immediately appears ahead. And then another. And another.
You never stop to enjoy what you have worked so hard to build. You wipe the sweat from your forehead and begin again. The shore you have been searching for is finally before you, but your eyes are already fixed on a more distant horizon.
Some call it resilience, others stubbornness. To some, it is a virtue; to others, a flaw, perhaps even a sentence to be endured. Because such extraordinary strength can become a prison when it no longer allows you to feel satisfied, when every victory seems merely an obligation to prepare for the next.
And yet, within that endless struggle, there is a greatness difficult to understand for those who have never had to fight for the right to believe in themselves.
It is the strength of someone who has known fear and chosen to face it. Of someone who has learned not to feel defeated before the battle has even begun. Of someone who looks at a mountain and, instead of wondering whether it is too high, begins searching for a way to reach its summit.
Perhaps the day will never come when everything finally feels like enough. Perhaps that long-awaited peace will always remain one step farther ahead. But there is an enormous difference between those who keep running because they are afraid of losing everything and those who, through their battles, have discovered a strength that no one can give them and no one can take away.
I have walked through fear, known hardship, and faced battles that seemed greater than I was. I have learned to bend without breaking, to fall without considering myself defeated, to look ahead even when I could see nothing before me. And if life were to ask me to start all over again, it would find the same determination, the same hunger, the same courage.
I may fall. I may lose. I may find myself standing alone against the entire world. But I will never surrender. Never. Because you can take away everything I have achieved. But you can never take away the person I became to achieve it.
Just to say. CJJ
E allora impari a combattere.
CJJ
